It’s a contract where a human being agrees to perform some task for the other party. David Beckham was in a personal service contract to play football for Manchester United.

If he had decided not to play there was nothing that anyone could do to make him play so a court will not award a judgement of specific performance against a breacher in a personal service contract

    OK?

No. We could finish up with the ridiculous situation where Beckham puts on the kit and runs out with the rest of the team but plays a mare of a game. By turning out he’s not in breach and who’s to say that he wasn’t playing his best.

But you’re doing it again aren’t you! You’re wandering into the vague world of “what ifs”

This is a law exam for accountants. It’s not the Lord Chancellor’s test to determine which of 4 possibles should be next appointed as a high court judge

No, it’s ok, but just be aware of the limits that can be expected of you
