Hello, I’ll be attempting F5 this december.Since I am starting a bit late I am now worried that is it possible to complete the whole syllabus in a month and revise the next month? I’ll be following opentuitions lectures and notes along with BPP kit. Will that be enough for me to pass?
September 20, 2015 at 4:52 pm #272570Obviously it depends how much time you have free for studying (I don’t know whether you are working, for example). However one month for learning and one month for practicing should certainly be enough.
Don’t forget to ask in this forum if you have any problems on the way 🙂September 21, 2015 at 5:40 am #272601That’s a relief, thank you so much Sir 🙂 No I am not employed anywhere currently so I think will be able to give 100% effort. Had another question, should I do kaplan and BPP kit together or practising just one will be enough?
September 21, 2015 at 7:13 am #272606Using one revision kit is enough (although if you have the time, the more the better 🙂 )
September 28, 2015 at 11:54 pm #274039Hi I’m Ahmed im sitting in dec for f5,I’m doing self study, can u plz explain me section b paper structure,I’m using kaplan study material
October 12, 2015 at 10:03 am #275977hello sir
i am planning to sit for f9, f5 and f8 this dec…i will be starting my study today and considering what materials i should use…is opentuition lectures & notes and the bpp kit enough to score very high marks in f9 and f5, lets say around 80’s? is the time available enough?
please advice sir…i was going through the f5 bpp study text and i find it too technical and complicated to understand, the same for F9 the bpp text is too complicated.
In terms of answering the qn…the answers are very lengthy in the bpp kits…..theres no way i can answer like that if i just use the opentuition lectures and notes as the notes and lectures seem shallow compared to the study textOctober 12, 2015 at 11:12 am #275998ahmedkhan: If you look at the main page for F5 you will find a link an an introductory lecture which explains the structure of the exam and how to study for it.
October 12, 2015 at 11:17 am #276000mike0943: I teach F5 and F9 and certainly for those papers our lectures together with the lecture notes cover more than enough to be able to pass the papers well (provided that you also practice all the questions in your revision kits).
There are no questions that you should not be able to answer if you have watched and understood the lectures – the lectures are certainly not ‘shallow’ and are what is taught on face-to-face courses. The lecture notes are not study texts – they are notes that are used with the lectures and it is in the lectures that we explain and expand on them. (The answer to the written parts of questions in the revision kit are deliberately longer than the examiner expects, because people learn from them – the examiner always repeats this)
Also, when you have finished studying, you will find lectures working through many past exam questions and discussing what is required for the written parts.I do not teach F8 but I would expect the same applies there – you can ask in the F8 Ask the Tutor Forum.
October 12, 2015 at 11:15 pm #276084i see…so its possible to give answers in your own way and score full marks even if its short and contains few lines and not as detailed like the ones in bpp or ACCA’s?
i want to achieve atleast 90-95% of the marks in any qn that may be asked…so is it possible to do that using only OT lectures and notes?
October 13, 2015 at 6:26 am #276125Yes – in F5 and F9 you are not expected to write long answers. The marks are just for making the points.
I cannot comment on whether you can get 90-95% – that depends on you (but bear in mind that the ACCA exams are more difficult than university exams).
Our lectures and notes cover enough to pass the exam well, provided that you also have a current edition of a Revision Kit and practice every question, because practice is vital.
October 13, 2015 at 1:56 pm #276177yea looking at the standards of ACCA their exams are too difficult and the materials are too technical as well
Anyways i wanted to pass f5 and f9 with 80+ marks, i hope i can do that with opentuition lectures + notes and bpp kit only, as i want to solely rely on avoid the bpp study text as i am not able to understand it
can i do that john?
October 13, 2015 at 5:01 pm #276193There is absolutely no reason why you should not be able to pass just using our lectures, lecture notes, and a Revision Kit.
However, how many marks you will get it really is impossible for me to answer because I don’t know how good or bad you are at arithmetic, how good or bad your English is (although you write it well enough here 🙂 ), how hard or easy you will find the topics, and how much time you are able to spend studying.
By all means aim for 80+, but remember all that really matters is that you pass 🙂
October 13, 2015 at 9:52 pm #276227i guess i will rely on using opentuition lectures, notes and the bpp kit as long as your lectures cover 100% of the syllabus
hope i do well and get those 80’s 🙂
October 14, 2015 at 7:43 am #276247Best of luck (and do ask in this forum if you have any problems) 🙂
October 14, 2015 at 9:06 am #276261Hi sir,
I have thoroughly gone through all the lectures and notes pertaining to f5 and f9 and right now i am solving the revision kit sir can u pls let me know how many past papers should I practice for both f5 and f9 and pls if u can mention the years of the past papers pls sir I will be very thankful to u pls pls pls
Thanking u in anticipation
October 14, 2015 at 6:23 pm #276328You should practice all the questions in your revision kit – they will include all the relevant past exam questions (except for June 2015 – you can download those exams from the ACCA website).
October 14, 2015 at 6:52 pm #276338Thanks a tonnnnnnnn sir!
October 14, 2015 at 7:43 pm #276345You are welcome 🙂

October 15, 2015 at 9:36 pm #276570Hi,
Can you please explain question 3 in chapter 1’s Test?
I can not see how the other overheads costs was worked out.
October 16, 2015 at 8:54 am #276611They are absorbed on the basis of about hours (per the question).
The total labour hours are (2400 x 8) + (9600 x 10) = 115,200 hours.
So the overhead cost per hour is 230400 / 115200 = $2.
(It is the same problem as with machine hours in the example in the notes, and I stress in the lecture to watch out for it 🙂 )
October 19, 2015 at 7:46 pm #277642Thank you for the answer.
Really appreciate it.
October 19, 2015 at 8:38 pm #277663You are welcome 🙂
