I am trying to solve the problem in the learning curves lecture with my Casio calculator but I am having difficulties can you please help? 12×50 log0.80/log2.
I don’t have a Casio calculator.
You need to practise on figures you know and write down intermediate figures.
Make sure you can calculate log 2 as 0.3010
and log 0.8 = -0.0969Log 0.8/log 2 = -0.32196
Make sure you can raise to a power. Eg 2 raised to power 5 = 32.
Combine your skills to work out 12 x (50 raised to the power of -0.32196)
= 12 x 0.28379 = 3.405

Step by step:
To work out log 0.2/log 22 press the following keys where / means the division sign on your calculator:
log 0.8 /log 2 =
The answer at this stage is -0.32193
Clear all. To raise 50 to that power enter (where Xy is the button saying X suffix y):
50Xy – 0.32193 =
The answer at this stage is 0.2838
Finally multiply that by 12 to give 3.405
