I know that we do not need to recite the Article numbers but do need the knowledge. From looking through a study text when coming across Article 4 – property in goods sold, I do not understand what this one means.

Also, Article 14, I do not understand this statement:

An invitation to treat or to make offers is any other proposal, unless the person making it clearly indicates to the contrary

It’s like the Carlill case or like the mythical case in past exam questions? Where a person advertises their car for sale and, within the advert, uses words like “This is a serious offer” then even though it’s an advert and would normally be classified as an invitation, the use of the words clearly indicates that “the person making it clearly indicates to the contrary”

    Ok?

I have just read about the case online. It should be clear when it is in actual offer then.

In the Carlill case it was not made perfectly clear – that’s why the Smokeball Company brought all those defences (5 different defences in total) but the court determined that, because of the setting aside of a fund of money to pay the “reward”, the company had indicated that there was indication to enter a legal arrangement

Yes I noticed that part. Maybe I will come across more examples.

The more you read, the more examples you will find. It’s fascinating stuff, though. You have to admit it!

It is true. Plus it is good to know for instances that may affect you in real life.
Thanks for all of your help this weekend Mike.

Well I hope that you didn’t miss Wimbledon on my account as the finals were really good. It sounds like you have some fun hobbies 🙂
