I am aiming to sit the CBE for Law (Global) however the past papers that I am going through are from the ACCA website which are for the written exam. How do the two differ?
For the part with the 5 questions worth 6 marks each, when on the computer do you have to type out your answers?
Also, I have seen in the answers for Dec 2014 exam that the acts and sections are quoted and various case names of which I thought that we did not need to know?
Please correct me if I am wrong?June 18, 2015 at 8:36 pm #257824You do most certainly NOT need neither case names, titles of statute nor section numbers
On the page for past papers for F4, if you scroll right down to the bottom of the page, there is a little box titled June 2015
Try that
June 18, 2015 at 8:52 pm #257827Do you know why these are included in the ACCA answers?
I have been looking on various pages for the June 2015 paper but cannot find it anywhere?
Do you have a link to it that you can send me?
Are you saying that I should be following the format of this exam?
Thanks
June 19, 2015 at 9:17 am #258008I’ve just been trying to find the paper again – but sadly I can’t see it 🙁
I shall continue looking and I’ll let you know if I find it again
June 19, 2015 at 2:33 pm #258059June 19, 2015 at 3:36 pm #258075This is helpful thank you. There is a Specimen paper that you can try (not ready for it at the moment) however I’m not sure if I have to pay for it.
Another student on here sent me a link to a page on the ACCA website where they have 1 or 3 CBE practice exams (which you have to pay either £9 or £18 for).
Do we not get charged enough by them already? Especially as you would think that the price of sitting a CBE would be considerably lower given that it is marked by a computer.
(shouldn’t be taking this up with you, sorry!)I still cannot find that June 2015 paper that you mentioned…
June 19, 2015 at 4:26 pm #258080I don’t think June 2015 is uploaded – sorry to have misled you – it must have been the specimen exam that I was confusing it with
The link I sent is to the specimen exam and it’s free
June 22, 2015 at 9:16 pm #258524I must have missed your response, only just noticed this now. I think that you are right that June 2015 hasn’t been uploaded. Yes, thanks for the link to the specimen exam – it says it is ‘a’ specimen so I don’t know if that means there are others.
For the ones that have been uploaded that relate to this module, they are all for the written exam. Due to this all of the answers have case names, act names and section numbers.
Please let me know if it is still worth going through these? Perhaps sifting through the parts of the answers that are relevant?
June 22, 2015 at 9:40 pm #258539Well, assuming that all the written answers are correct, you could be advantaged by reading them. Just because the style of the answer is not what to expect in a CBE that doesn’t make the answer any less correct
In short, yes, go through as many questions as you can
The only difference for you is that the correct answers will be given to you in the exam – all you have to do is ignore the incorrect choices!
June 22, 2015 at 10:33 pm #258548I will go through them all but make sure I practice the new format too.
Thanks
June 23, 2015 at 3:33 pm #258594You’re welcome
June 28, 2015 at 8:12 pm #259001Hello Mike
I thought I would mention this as it relates to this conversation that we were having. I now have the most recent BPP Revision Kit but it mainly caters for the written exam in terms of having the MTQs with written answers (including case names) rather than the options that you describe.
I think that the best practice of this section is going to be on the link that you sent above.
It is a shame that there isn’t an adapted version of the book. Although, the rest of the book is very good as there are lots of MCQs.
I hope that it is clear to students of the two different types of exam and what is expected.
June 28, 2015 at 8:17 pm #259004Hi Chloe
Thanks for this, and here’s a bit of guidance for you too – not all the answers in the Kaplan exam kit are correct (at least they weren’t when I last looked at me in November last year)
In addition we should have some mtqs up on the site in the nearish future. Admin is away on holiday and will then be very busy catching up but there should be some up on the site “soon” – you’ll just need to be patient
June 28, 2015 at 10:36 pm #259020I have heard of this happening and I’m concerned as to whether the answers are correct in the LSBF books. I will not be using these for F4 but will be using the study texts for F7, F8 and F9.
I managed to get copies of the 2014 editions for free. However, I have never used their study materials before so do not know what to expect. That is really good news! I will keep an eye out for them 🙂
Thanks
June 28, 2015 at 10:46 pm #259022You’re welcome, and there are not many errors (that I found, though there could be others that I didn’t!)
June 29, 2015 at 6:58 pm #259094Brilliant! Cheers Mike 🙂
June 29, 2015 at 7:32 pm #259097As always, you’re welcome
July 1, 2015 at 9:34 pm #259267Hi Mike
I have just read through the F4 Exam Technique page and wanted to check for the F4 CBE whether the 15 minutes reading time does or doesn’t apply?
Thanks 🙂
July 1, 2015 at 11:33 pm #259272I believe that it still applies!
July 5, 2015 at 2:43 pm #259540I asked Riz (who did the CBE just the other week) and she said that there was no 15 mins reading time before the CBE.
Plus, students may be interested to know that you do not have to stay for the full length of the exam (in this case 2 hours) as you do for the written ones in the exam hall.
You can submit your answers when you feel ready and then leave.July 5, 2015 at 5:37 pm #259547I’ve since read up some other posts – no separate reading time – sorry 🙁
July 5, 2015 at 5:41 pm #259549No problem, I think it would be odd to have it on a computer. What is driving me mad though is all of these long written questions in the Revision Kit and past exam papers.
I will purchase those tests on the ACCA site fairly soon!July 5, 2015 at 6:41 pm #259553The scenarios questions are likely to be similar to what we were used to with questions 8, 9 and 10 from the old exam style ….. so get used to it!
July 5, 2015 at 7:13 pm #259556Did you have to tell me that? 🙂
Ok, I will take a closer look at those ones.
July 5, 2015 at 7:34 pm #259557No, I could have left you in the dark instead of spoiling the surprise.
Sorry, mea culpa 🙁
🙂
