Hi Mike. I found the latest p2 attempt rather testing. The comments on the forum showed that I wasn’t the only one. However a look at the p2 pass rates displayed a very high passing percentage, averaging around 50. My question to you is that when there comes a paper as tough as June’15, does the examiner follows a lenient marking or is there a percantile method being followed to ensure that a reasonable quantity of students pass regardless of the difficulty of the paper?
Thanks.
June 14, 2015 at 4:07 pm #256826Officially, there is no manipulation to ensure that a required percentage pass. P2 has proven, since time immemorial, to be a tough paper. I can only assume that, over the years, the markers are finding the “sense” of what is written in students answers and are giving credit for correct principles
I also believe that, as each P2 paper is set, the students unfortunate enough to face this hurdle maintain that their’s is the hardest paper ever set, yet still around 50% are managing to write enough to persuade the ACCA that they are worthy of a pass mark
Take heart! Be strong! And wait for August
