    Hello Mike

I was looking at OT’s “How to pass ACCA P2 exam” and it was mentioned that a study text contained 851 pages. While looking at the videos on this site (of lectures and especially the past paper questions) definitely helped me to pass f7, I am wondering if the OT notes would be adequate since it was also mentioned that “there could well be written elements in excess of 50%”. Should I use the OT notes and lectures to help me understand the calculations and then also use a study text for the theory? 851 is a lot of pages to remember, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve changed my mind since I wrote that note 🙁

You can rely on there being 35% numbers and 65% written

You’ll still need the notes because the written elements in the exam are about accounting matters (with 7 or 8 about ethics)

Check out a recent past exam, particularly the solutions to a recent exam, and see what I mean about the mark split

Do you need a study text? I wouldn’t have thought so. How can you seriously write about the possibility of remembering 851 pages? Get real!

Your time would be better spent going through the notes, watching the videos and then reading the past exam questions and answers from the revision kit / exam kit. Since December 2007. That’s 16 exams. Don’t bother looking at questions 4 – current issues as being current issues – because they will no longer be current issues by the time you’re doing the exam. However, they could still be relevant. In addition, you can get a feel for the type of question that your examiner asks and the type of answer style that is expected from you

So, yes, notes and recordings followed by hour after hour of reading qs and answers particularly for questions 2 and 3 from past exams

And if you do get hold of a study text, it has multiple uses. The two common ones are 1) to assist in reaching things off a high shelf, and 2) to hold open a door to allow a through flow of air
