Hi…Willy works in Sales..There is always a sales competition at the year end and the winner is likely to be made team leader…Willy is quite certain he will be able to win and that he will have more responsibility which he would like…But he would also have to work much long hours and he is quite reluctant to do this for family reasons …What is motivation for work based on expectancy equation……
It’s so frustrating….I answered Valence would be high expectancy low motivation low But the answer was the vice verse …..Can. You explain why my answer isn’t correct..I was quite sure I picked the right answer….In my opinion, He would like means valence high and he can’t because of family reasons means expectancy low…Thank you very much..
Expectancy is your judgement about how likely you are to achieve the reward. Here it is high because Willy is quite certain he will be able to win.
However, he does not really value the reward on offer; at best he is divided as he does not want to interfere with family life. Therefore, valence is low.
