Hi Mike,
Just wanted to get some advice from you. My P7 exam was a nightmare. I missed out on 30% of the marks and it was so time pressured. I had very little to say given the mark allocation. I did practice past papers but not so many.
Do you think it will be a good idea maybe switching to P5? There was too much accounting knowledge needed this time round and there is just too much expected by this examiner which I can’t deliver given my hectic working life.
June 1, 2015 at 5:44 pm #251517This was my first P7 attempt by the way.
June 1, 2015 at 5:56 pm #251536You’re a bit premature with this prediction! When you say that you missed 30%, do you literally mean you didn’t attempt 30% or do you mean that your effort was rushed and not up to your usual standard?
The result is not known until you’ve heard it officially – I might use an operatic saying here – it’s not over until the calorie-challenged lady sings.
As for a switch – what makes you think that your self-discipline is going to be any better? Time management is bad whichever paper you turn your hand to?
The REAL issue here is lack of discipline on your part! How many times have you heard or read a tutor chanting the mantra “Allocate your time and stick to that time allocation”
Gabriel, it’s the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN ACHIEVING SUCCESS IN THESE PROFESSIONAL EXAMS
You’re a P7 student! I have to ask, how have you got this far and yet you still make a mess of time allocation?
Now, leave any decision making and course-changing action until August
and in the meantime go and have a break, a restful stress free holidayJune 1, 2015 at 6:14 pm #251558“or do you mean that your effort was rushed and not up to your usual standard?” I mean that. I didn’t completely leave 30% of again if we don’t explain the points, we don’t get the marks. So if I stuck to time the examiner would complain “I haven’t explained enough”. Anyway, going for P4 studying now.
June 1, 2015 at 7:01 pm #251605So you’ve suggested P5 and immediately moved again to P4!
Ok, but don’t be surprised to be proved wrong in August. Let me know on Saturday 8 August 🙂
June 2, 2015 at 5:53 pm #252041Actually sir, the students’ doomsday has moved to 1st August 😛
Gabriel, dont worry mate, whats done is done, its better not to worry until right before the results are announced… You were worried about P2 as well but you made it with good marks 🙂
June 2, 2015 at 6:11 pm #252061I meant August 8th – that will give Gabriel a full week to get over the shock of being told that he’s scored 65%
June 2, 2015 at 7:21 pm #252130Hahahah right my bad 🙂
June 2, 2015 at 8:00 pm #252147Ali, since you’re in a good mood, can I ask you please to restrict your input to the general forum rather than the Ask the Tutor pages
Thanks

You say you’re scared? Why? Is it helping you? Be stoical, not scared!
July 25, 2015 at 6:10 pm #261941I can’t log in to the link that all passed finalist are being able to log in so do you think this means anything? Is it like an indicator?
July 25, 2015 at 7:20 pm #261972I thought the results weren’t out until 1 August!
Don’t read into this situation anything other than access is not yet available!
Be patient!

NOTES
Paper Designations: INT=International
You have completed the ACCA/Oxford Brookes Degree examination component. Thanks for always guiding me. ACCA is now out of my life and I thank you, John and Open tuition so much for being a part of this ACCA journey that started in 2012 and has now ended. Thanks a lot
August 1, 2015 at 1:35 am #263749Thank you Sir Mike, you have always patiently answered all queries, helped me and others pass and made all those brilliant lectures. Gonna miss you and your lectures.
August 1, 2015 at 5:21 pm #264449Gabriel, Ali – if either of you is ever faced by a student of ACCA who says “I know for sure that I’ve failed ….. What shall I do?” I trust that you both will reply “How can you possibly know. I knew that I too had definitely failed, how could I possibly have passed, it was a nightmare and I lost so much sleep, it was a disaster, should I find a high building and practice my jumping skills, is there really life after an ACCA exam, how can I go on, and on, and on………”
And yet you both passed
Enough said?
Why not stay on this site as a contributor to the next few generations of students who worry, get depressed, feel utter hatred to the system…..
You never know, your own input based on your own experiences may help to calm the anxieties of the students of the future
August 1, 2015 at 6:56 pm #264467Sure Mike I will be here for some time. But this thread is a living proof that ACCA marking is fair and if you are to pass then you will surely pass and best is to be patient for the results.
August 1, 2015 at 9:21 pm #264501You got it!
