ACCA waste of time and money?

This decision is up to you. If you feel that you will not get anywhere with exams then maybe you should try for something else in life.

Every time you fail or take longer to complete it there are more new students starting their exams and finishing. Personally, if I didn’t get a job in Finance I would have probably quit ACCA as well but I was lucky.
I also heard many employers ask about how long it took you or how often you failed.

It is unfortunate that you have failed F4 and F9. Based on your post, I do not know if that is your first failure, or just represents your most recent failure, however, I wish to defer on your expose which has branded ACCA a waste of time and money.

As a former student, now member who had to pass through all the exams without exemptions, I can honestly say that the hard work has paid off for me professionally, much more than I could have imagined. As a matter of fact it has paid off for many persons in similar ways.

As a professional qualification, the exams require dedication and perseverance, much like the real working world. How many times have you failed at activities in life? Have you given up on each occasion? I can honestly say I have failed at many things, but that has given me the drive to try again, to learn from my mistakes and to excel in the next round of the game called life.

The attitude you have displayed towards failing the exams has me questioning your character as an employee and a person. Granted, I do not know you and I have very little to base my opinions on, but as the saying goes, “first impressions last”. If you go through this forum and indeed look at the success stories all around, there are many persons who not only sing the praises of the qualification but would not be where they are today without the world class training, knowledge and experiences afforded them by the ACCA qualification.

The ACCA has provided you with a syllabus which outlines the topics which can be examined. They have gone through the text of approved content providers to ensure the books contain all the relevant information. You benefit from something many before your time did not, that is the wealth of knowledge shared on the internet. The examiners have provided tips and guides to tackling the exams. The only thing they have not done is to have provided the answers to the examinations in advance. I fear this is what you wish to do. Nothing has ever been truly gained or earned without hard work and dedication.

So in summary, before you point fingers and blame the ACCA, I suggest you look in the mirror, because I think you will find the reasons for your demise staring straight back at you. ACCA is not a waste of time and money, the waste comes from not preparing adequately and from failing the exams and having to spend more money to make up for past mistakes.

Think on these things.
