Q:The following information relates to a process for a period.
Input costs,$45,705
Output passing inspection,$45,705
Normal inspection loss,300 units(sold for $2 a unit)
Abnormal inspection loss,100 units(sold for $2 a unit)
What was the cost per unit (2 decimal places)?
A)$4.49
B)$4.56
C)$4.65
D)$4.76
The bpp exam kit answer is C but i believe the answer is $4.85 per unit.Need help here.May 30, 2015 at 6:53 pm #250730There’s something wrong with this question. You need to know how many units were made. There is a figure repeated above ($45,705). Is that right?

Details of the process for the last period are as follows.
Materials 5,000 kg at 50c per kg
Labour $700
Production overheads 200% of labourNormal losses are 10% of input in the process, and without further processing any losses can be sold as scrap for 20c per kg.
The output for the period was 4,200 kg from the process.
There was no work in progress at the beginning or end of the period.
What will the value credited to the progress account for the scrap value of the normal loss for the period be?
A $84
B $100
C $210
