Hi there!
Although I strongly believe it’s never too late to keep learning new skills I can’t help thinking that I may find hard to find a job in the accounting field.
I am currently 34 years old, I’m originally from Spain but I moved to the UK 5 years ago, before that I was working in France. I have been doing many different jobs, but for the past 5 years I’ve been working in Exports, mostly on the administration/customer service side (export documents, liasing with banks, dealing with customers etc) I think the best bit would be to show that I had to work using 4 different languages (Esp/Ita/Eng/Fr) but I am not too sure how helpful this could be when applying for an accounting position having 0 related experience.
Anyone had a similar experience to mine?

It’s universally true that things in life become more difficult as we age, but most things aren’t impossible.
I was your age when I started my accountancy training a few years ago. I am now only three exams away from completing my studies and will be 38 when I qualify in about 8-12 months’ time.
I got a job (in SOX) in my current company with 0 accounting and 0 audit experience, purely on the strength that I was able to demonstrate my methodical and analytical thinking during the selection test.
The interviewer said to me afterwards that I actually did better than some experienced auditors because I didn’t have a preconceived idea of how it should go and was able to evidence a logical approach to the problem.Accountants do such a huge variety of roles these days. Have you tried financial services? With your languages you could look at large companies that have a global presence.
