Good day Sir, i came across this question among your revision mock exam “What is the appropriate response if a client does not give permission for the new auditors to contact the outgoing auditors” and i chose this answer “Attempt to find the information in other ways then decide on whether to accept or decline the appointment” and it was wrong, my question goes thus is it not possible for the client to refuse based on the incompetence of the outgoing auditors or some other reasons such as a disagreement amongst both parties.
New auditors must always contact the outgoing ones. How would the new auditor know that the client wasn’t trying to cover something up by claiming the outgoing auditors were incompetent?
