I need some advise – In Dec 2014 I attempted F9 exam for the third time and failed it again (36marks) – I am getting a bit fed with this exam and it was the only exam I attempted in Dec 2014
I performed really well in exam question practice but still can’t think where I go wrong in the exam.
I have F9 and all the P’s exams left to complete in total 6 exams and I am considering retaking F9 exam and also attempting P1 & P2 along side it
The reason for this – according to my ACCA student membership – I have until June 2017 to pass all my exams therefore getting really worried what if I can’t complete my exams by than and also I have been studying for a long time now so just want to get over and done with it.
I am writing to get some advise – on which is the best way forward to complete all exams as soon as possible and how to prepare for them to pass in first attempt?
At present I am also working full time in an accounting role
I will really appreciate your advice
February 18, 2015 at 9:37 am #229045How is your time management? Did you practice under exam conditions? Actually setting stopwatch and controlling the time?
Did you attempt 100% of exam – literally did you attempt each an every mark available.
Is your writing legible? Is it? – on the exam you have to be neat, you have to structure answer make paragraphs. I suggest showing your practice paper which was written under time pressure to your friend and see if he can read all your words and numbers.
Do you show calculations / workings?
As for the P level – most of the students would suggest P1 as it’s syllabus isn’t that big really and is a good ‘warm up’ before harder P papers.
Try F9 and P1.
About the time left – well since ACCA is increasing number of sittings your chances of completing are now increased – but please ensure if your country/exam centre is included.

As much I remember i attempted every question in the exam
All my practice questions were attempted under timed conditions and reviewed by a tutor as i had attended a revision course at Kaplan FinancialI think this time i will resit F9 and attempt P1 than hopefully the increased number of sittings will help to progress further
Really stressed out 🙁
February 18, 2015 at 12:43 pm #229058I was reading somewhere, if you haven’t started the P papers you have 7 years to complete when you do start.
February 18, 2015 at 12:44 pm #229059February 18, 2015 at 3:01 pm #229083The new rule is that you have to finish the P papers within 7 years of passing your first P paper.
As soon as any exam gets 7 years old, then you lose the pass for that exam and have to sit it again (but you keep other passes until they become 7 years old).February 18, 2015 at 9:45 pm #229105Hello Sixtogo,
Have you considered a study buddy? There are plenty of people study F9 and it could be just the boost you need to get you through the next set of exams 🙂
This way you can sound off ideas and keep each other focused.
Of course you may be studying at a Uni so this may be daft advice.
I am also re-sitting F9 in June………..I WILL pass this time 🙂February 19, 2015 at 9:23 am #229153Hi Razor & John,
Thanks for your message – much appreciatedHi Lavinia69,
I have not considered a study buddy – since i have been attending revision courses and in contact with my tutor on a regularly. This sitting i am still deciding what to do in terms of preparing for exam – Either do home study (study buddy would be helpful) or attend a revision course
