Best combination with F5?

F5 and F9 is not a very good combination. Many people think that they are similar, but they are actually very different and doing them together can cause a lot of confusion.

The ACCA suggest that the papers should be taken in order, and that is very sensible.
I would suggest F4 and F5 (F4 has no arithmetic, F5 does have arithmetic, which is what makes them a good combination).

Alternatively F5 and F6. (It is good to take F6 in June because if things do go wrong and you fail then the rules for F6 stay the same for the following December).

Depending on where you live, F4 may be available as CBE which means that you can take it whenever you like.

I did not say they were a good combination (or a bad combination) – just that they are fine.
Certainly they do both have arithmetic (although only 50% arithmetic in the case of F5).

There really is no best combination – everyone is different and finds different papers easier or harder.

The ACCA recommend that the exams are taken in number order, and it is a sensible recommendation.

(Some students suggest taking F5 and F9 together because the names of the papers are similar. However don’t do this – the papers are very different and to do them both in the same sitting can be confusing. Also it is useful to have taken F6 before F9 because one part of F9 does need basic tax knowledge.)

If you take them in number order, then it means F5 and F6 in the next sitting, and F7 and F9 in the following sitting!
