Dear Mr Moffat,
Are the points given for methods and workings even if the needed answers are wrong?

Yes. The final answer is almost irrelevant. The marks are given for each step in the workings.
Also, where you are asked to comment on the answer, the marks are for making the correct comment on your answer (whether or not it was the correct figure).(Not in Section A obviously where only the chose answer is marked)
