Dear John,
I did not understand how to calculate loss in material mix variances. Can you please explain with a little example.

There is no loss in the mix variance (it is dealt with in the yield variance).
For the mix variance you take the total input (purchases) and compare the actual mix with the standard mix (both costed at standard cost).
You can find a worked example in the free lecture on mix and yield variances.
