Hello everyone!!it’s very nice being here.
I am considering studying for the acca qualification and I have this specific question.I read that you can start studying for the acca exams and pass them without needing any work experience at the same time is this true?
Also, can someone inform me about how much would the total cost of passing all levels would be including study material (assuming first time passes)?
Thank you very much in advance!
November 24, 2014 at 9:58 am #212607Hi,
You do not need work experience in order to start studying the ACCA, however once you have completed the exams, in order to become a member you need to complete 3 years of PER (Practical Experience Requirement).
The cost of passing 14 exams depends on whether you will be studying by yourself or through a learning provider. If you are studying by yourself then you could either use the notes provided from opentuition.com for free, or purchase books from Kaplan or BPP (these 2 are mostly recommended) which usually cost between 30-40 euro. You would also have to register with the ACCA and pay an annual subscription fee each year (I think its around 80 euro but not sure) and of course pay for the exam. Depending on the module exam prices vary from 80-130.
If you choose to study with a learning provider then obviously it is a more expensive option, fees in Cyprus are around 800 euro (F1-F4), 1000 euro (F5-F9) 1250 euro (P1-P7). You would attend classes and they will provide you will all the notes that you need and usually give you a revision book.
Again the prices I’m giving you are just a rough estimate.
I hope this has been helpful.November 24, 2014 at 9:59 am #212608Yes there are many students here who start ACCA without any work experience – it is totally fine.
Registration 79
+ 3*69
+6*87
+5*100
= 1308+Annual subscriptions say 3 years – its +100 something (120?)
+360
=1368Other costs: notebooks, pens, highlighters, getting to exam centre etc.
Lets make it 1 500 GBP
This assumes using OpenTuition which is very good and past papers only – no obtaining materials from tuition providers such as Kaplan, BPP etc.
November 24, 2014 at 10:34 am #212618Yes im in the same boat Panagiotis. I have been considering going with a learning provider, but to be honest my self study has been so consistent, Im just gonna go straight for the exam next year in June.
November 24, 2014 at 11:23 pm #212926thank you so much for your quick and articulate answers. You were all very helpful.
I do have a question though which is very important and more general.I don’t think starting a new thread about it is needed.
The question is what is needed if you want to work at a big 4/consulting company like KPMG or McKinsey. Are the ACCA qualification and general accounting knowledge required to work for such a company or will an MBA from a good b school be enough? The reason I am asking is because i see (on linkedin and elsewhere) many professionals who are very advanced in accounting and work for such companies.
Of course i know that just a degree/certification won’t get me through the door,i just want to know what the right path is.
Thank you very much again.
June 5, 2021 at 4:10 pm #623303Hello Everyone,
Can i register for ACCA as student directly based on my accounting working experience instead of first registering for FIA and then after ACCA. My high school qualification is not enough for me to register for ACCA. So anyone can give me any idea area here. I have two years of working experience in hospitality industry as an accounts assistant. Thanks.
June 5, 2021 at 4:49 pm #623312If you register for FiA you can skip RQF Levels 2 & 3 and go straight in a RQF Level 4:
https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/qualifications/glance/foundation-level/course-details.htmlThese 3 exams are IDENTICAL to FA/MA/BT in the ACCA qualification so what you can then do is switch to the ACCA Qualification – or you can do two additional exams for the CAT qualification (details on same link as above).
