FVOCI and FVPL 6/12 ethan

How do you know which items should go to FVPL or FVOCI? is this depends on the question.

I done 6/12 ethan, and in solutions it states that ” credit risk must be recognised to OCI rather than to PL” I thought fv changes such as exchange rates, changes to equity then treated to OCI? I don’t know and very confused.
