I am looking to write P7 again (4th attempt) and wish to get set up properly to nail this exam.
I was looking at your lecture outline and contents and comparing them to BPP study guide and its contents. I have noticed that the two do differ in order of subject. Can you advise which order I should use as I was looking to use your on-line lectures and refer to BPP study text if required any additional information as this is more detailed tha the lecture notes. I am not sure if this is the right stance so was looking for some help in setting this up.
Can you advise of what is the best approach. I understand every student is different but i just require some direction?
I am looking to set up a timetable and detal each section and so wish to be rather rigid….Marcus
Hi – the course notes are basically a skeleton around which I build the meat in the course of class tuition (the video lectures)
These are my notes and, in order more easily to avoid the temptation of plagiarism, I tend not to look at the publications of the “approved content providers” – clearly opentuition is a content provider that has never sought approval or, as the ACCA titled us, “non-approved content providers”
I imagine therefore that it will be extremely difficult to have a text book in front of you whilst I am chirping away on a video
What I suggest is that you could read (just read!) through the entire course notes (3 hours at the very most), then listen to the video lectures with the course notes in front of you and then, if you feel that it’s necessary, skim through the study text and read more deeply into any topic that catches your imagination
Having done that, why not read again through the course notes and add your own notations but pretty soon you need to be getting into a revision kit from an approved publisher – I believe that that is a major key to success in P7

I am writing the P7 paper in dec 2014. I am very nervous ,because everyone seem to bew telling me that this paper is hard. I study really hard and also always do my past papers before exam. I am willing to get into a group to help strengthen on my weaknesses.
Can you tell me the best approach to doing this paper?
First of all ….. why give any credence at all to what other people tell you! This exam is easy! So long as you have communication skills, you can think outside the box, you have a thorough knowledge of IAS / IFRS, you are aware of the differing requirements of the different verbs used by the examiner
Make up your own mind as to whether or not it’s a hard paper. It could so easily be the case that you find it straight forward and score 78% at your first attempt
Best approach? Read, read and then read again
Get suck into a reputable revision kit
Read, practice, read, practice, read, practice, read, pract…. oh, I think you’re getting the idea
Read the course notes, over and over agin until you are sick of them
Listen to the opentuition lectures until you are sick of them
Maybe join the study group that started last Saturday !6 August (if you’re not too late)
But start NOW!
