August 11, 2014 at 8:46 pm #189510I am attempting P4 P5 AND P2 in December! :-/
August 12, 2014 at 5:41 am #189543I took P3, P4,P5 in December 2013 and failed in P4, the easiest questions p4 had for the last couple of years. The pass rate was 42% as compared to previous 7 sessions that clocked around 35%. I did not prepare well for this exam I knew.
I passed P4 in June 2014, when the pass rate was 35%.
My point is it is advisable to chose an optional paper that contains knowledge and skills you will most likely to apply in real life or you think you should be focusing on to do in your future career. I would not brush aside the advice that many offers on this matter, where it is stated that choosing an optional paper should be dependent on your strength, for eg. if you did well in F-05 and F-09 then you must go for P4-P05, no matter what objectives you have set for your future career.
I chose the optional paper purely based on my career requirement. If I had to chose an optional paper based on F level performance then I would have gone for P7 and P6, which would not have done any good to me other than passing the exams.
Nevertheless, if you are full time student and not in a position at this point in time to identify which direction your career goes, then it would not be a bad idea to chose the optional papers based on your performance on F-level papers.
I wish you good luck
