I have failed this paper numerous times now and got 39 in June 2014 sitting. I’ve done lots of revision for this paper and did lots of question practice again. I felt that I’ve worked harder in this sitting than ever before, but my scores seemed be getting worse. In my last 3 sittings I’ve got 46, 40 & 39, where am I going wrong?? I don’t understand how so many people can pass with very little studying???

Maybe it’s time to give up and apply to be CAT.

Don’t give up. If you have failed P1 numerous times, I assume that you must have passed some papers at the P level.

    Try this

Get hold of a reputable revision kit.

    Read a question requirement.

Divide the number of marks for the question by 2. That’s the number of minutes you have to plan an answer.

Ok, plan an answer. Just one word bullet points are ideal.

At the end of your planning time, stop. Count up the number of different points you have planned to write in a full answer.

    Did you get half marks?

Check the printed solution to see what you missed. See if the solution has managed to get two separate points out of just one of yours.

Did you manage to score more than half in each and every part of the question requirements?

Do this exercise again and again and again ….. until you’re totally sick of doing it.

And then do it some more.

I believe that the biggest cause of failure in this exam is an inability to score enough separate points within the time allocation. And that ability has to be spread across all the parts of those questions that you attempt

Hope that helps but let me know how you are going on

Don’t give up. For winners never quit and quitters never win. We have all failed some papers severally but we never gave up. I never failed a paper when i started the acca exams until i met p2 which silenced me for more than 4times and i never gave up and just last sitting i passed.
Just revise you strategy for studies and i know u will be fine.

Make sure and read the answers to every past paper at least twice but preferably more. Do that and you won’t fail.

“should knew risk management corp governance n ethics well.”

Sleena is correct – but, there again, with an exam called “Governance, Risk and Ethics” there’s a bit of a clue in the title!

But seriously, she’s (?) correct and so is Liverbnz and all the other posters on this thread. The main message must surely be “practice, practice, practice” and, again from Sleena, “Dnt believe people pass without study”
