With results fast looming, I was thinking about how ill spend all my time (if Inshallah I pass P7 and qualify)?
I’m currently working as a Financial Analyst, and although intriguing I’m not entirely settled on the thought of this as a long-term option.
Having thoroughly enjoyed Tax @ all levels, I was thinking of maybe specialising in Tax (tax planning rather than administration).
Are you/anyone you know working as a Tax specialist? If so let me kindly have your feedback. I.e. How are you finding this? What training avenue did you peruse? How’s the job market for Tax specialists?
Also if you’ve thought of other ways of furthering your studies after ACCA, I’d be delighted to hear your plans.
If so, I,d be delighted to hear.
July 30, 2014 at 4:53 pm #180117If you are planning on pursuing ta tax role I would highly recommend it. I just came out of an industry tax planning role in industry and the experience and exposure I got is invaluable. My linkdin mailbox is literally full with recruiters looking at my profile and asking me to apply for various roles within organisations all around the world. I would highly recommend a tax role particularly if you have financial experience. I am now gaining more finance experience and my CV is filling up.

after ACCA what next? relax and enjoy you did it out mate 🙂
I think ACCA provided some good technical knowledge so I would rather move to a management course than another technical one.July 30, 2014 at 7:18 pm #180135Feedback much appreciated.
@seanog91 what Tax qualification do you hold?
As I understand to specialise in Tax you need to hold some qualification (CTA etc….)Also is the demand in the market within Tax planning?
With all due respect to anyone administering quarterly VAT returns and SA forms, I’m aiming a little higher.
July 30, 2014 at 7:28 pm #180137@melnic, I hate exams when doing them, but bizarrely miss them when they done! (I may be getting ahead of myself).
I would’ve bet my life that @ the point of graduating I would never sit another exam. AND HEAR I AM! lol.
In terms of management, I find it all too blahzay.
July 31, 2014 at 9:21 pm #180241I hold an Irish qualification for a Chartered Tax adviser and I worked in Transfer Pricing. The demand is very high in industry. I heard the ACCA is bringing out a tax qualification?
July 31, 2014 at 9:52 pm #180245Well done on the Irish CTA qualification, I one day strive to get there.
I’m not sure as to whether I should be looking to get into Tax as I am (without a Tax qualification and I would probably need to take a pay cut initially)/ should I wait until I get the CTA?
