Consolidation workings- BPP or Kaplan way

I am unsure as to ACCA’s preferred consolidation workings method – BPP’s or Kaplan’s. For my undergraduate studies I learnt the Kaplan way but for my ACCA self distance learning studies I went with BPP method mainly because ACCA use this in all their past exam answers– for that reason I thought ACCA preferred BPP’s over Kaplan’s. I failed my last P2 sitting, most likely due to my limited understanding of BPP method. I am now contemplating reverting back to Kaplan method which I understand a bit better. Is that a wise idea?? I know both BPP and Kaplan working method arrive at the same answer but if I use Kaplan method in the exam, will I be marked down for that or will the ACCA exam markers understand this method?
