Really struggling with my p2 revision (don’t know anything)
Any recommendations on the best way to get this stuff in my head? 🙁
May 14, 2014 at 9:43 am #168757Hi,
This is my first attempt at P2 and it is very challenging!
I would recommend to focus on group accounting. If you remember your F7 material on group accounts then great, if not i would recommend to go over the basics of group accounts first.
Once you know that, then go onto the next parts of group accounting such as complex consolidations, acquisitions, disposals etc.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
May 14, 2014 at 11:15 am #168773Hi Guys Good luck in Exams. I would focus on the theory questions and ethics. its worth 65 marks of the exam. The group is only worth 35. I focused on Consolidation my first time and only got marks for consolidation.
Exam paper and Theory all the way. Plus exam practice, how fast can you do the questions

Eek It’s going to be my first attempt on p2 also doing p1..How’s your revision going Mash? Good luck with it!!!
Thanks Eoglasain – that’s so true. I’m struggling on the group accounts so this sounds like a good idea. Did you focus on the accounting treatments and ethics?
May 18, 2014 at 7:10 am #169266Hi guys,
I am in the same situation as well. I am writing f8 and p1 too. I dont know if i should quit p2 and focus on these papers.
I know basic consolidations and the standards. will that be enough ?
May 18, 2014 at 4:12 pm #169337Attiiyya I have covered everything at this stage, but the parts i worry on for myself are Income Statement and Financial Instruments and Current Issues.
But feel quite confident otherwise.
Ali, I dont know if that will be enough but at the end of the day you may get lucky in the exam so it might be worth a try. You have paid for it and cant pull out at this stage so I would do it.
May 19, 2014 at 12:44 pm #169483hi Atiya/eog,
i am absolutely panicking!!
I am going over the topics for this subject to learn and am absolutely baffled by lots of it!
e.g. the deferred tax; the financial instruments; etc
I revised f3 and f7 to refresh my head! it helped to an extent – now these subjects are just so intense!!!
my plan is to just go over all course notes again – ask my teacher, etc for advice or something on certain subjects- and then question practice.
but theres so much and i just dont understand the subjects as much!!
Panicked student.
