REFERENCING PART 6:
Quality of referencing
Happy labour day to “rap labours.”
Marker may fail you “your quality of referencing is not what I would expect at this level…….therefore I am inclined to fail……”
So how to take care of this:
Quality means variety of sources (to make unbiased judgement) and the reputation of your sources (to convince your audience that what you are saying is also supported by trusted people and organizations).
List of sources:
1. Company annual reports
2. Internet. minus wiki but mind you it does not mean wiki is prohibited material. Wiki gives you tons of information which you may not find elsewhere. If you like the information on wiki then go to original source from where information reproduced on wiki. To know the reputation and rating of the website visit :www.alexa.com/?
3. Websites sites ending with .edu and .gov
4. National websites: Ministry of finance and other relevant ministries, chamber of commerce, bureau of statistics, central bank, national association of your specific industry, international association of your specific industry
5. Periodicals: Journals and news papers. Regular university students have access to paid services to view millions of journals but you will have to burn your eyes to find out free sources.
7. Security analysts reports from brokerage houses (topic 8).
9. Books: do not ignore books, definitely include your acca text books but include also other reference books from reputable authors such as Oxford University Press, McGraw-Hill, Prentice Hall and so on.
Hope I have delivered the ingredients of ‘quality referencing’. - AuthorPosts
