    Dear John,

Given the deletions from the syllabus of areas like
    (C4 quantitative analysis in budgeting
    b) Explain the use of forecasting techniques, including time series, simple average growth models ……) Does this mean there is nothing to do with forecasting in F5 apart from assumed knowledge where full question comes?

what about Regression (even under the analysis of costs section) I don’t see it in the syllabus, neither in the deleted

The deletions were made some time ago, but the examiner has made it clear that they were deleted simply because they are assumed knowledge from Paper F2.

She has, however, also made it clear that calculations on regression and time series analysis will not be required – the most she can expect is a basic understanding (and even that is, to be honest, not very likely).

Basic variance analysis is another area that was deleted because it is assumed knowledge from Paper F2. However, again, it has been made clear that basic variances will be examined (but never as a whole question), and understanding them is essential to being able to calculate planning and operational variances which certainly are examinable.
