can Employer or Firm know about if i failed any exam?
or
how many attempts it took Me to pass any exam?
or my marks in it?March 12, 2014 at 7:46 am #162113Only if you choose to tell them!
They cannot find out directly from the ACCA because of data protection laws.
March 12, 2014 at 9:27 am #162115If the employer is so keen and not satisfied with the certificate of pass, then they may demand the employee to produce marks obtained in the order which they passed.
Although the last ESR would provide the % of marks obtained and the session on when the student was passed without any mention of number of attempts, the employer can very well ask the employee to produce ESR of each exam passed by the employee, whcih will reveal the number of attempts one has made for a paper.
However I do agree that such instances are highly unlikely, perhaps globally. The funny side of my country is , India, I have seen many reputed employers’ job advertisement mentions candidates with first attempt pass, or sencond attempt or maximum of 3 attempt pass only will be considered etc.
March 12, 2014 at 12:01 pm #162135Since I joined my new company, I’ve to update my progress file after each exam, since my employer is paying for my tuitions+paid days off for study. I believe that, my line manager/HR manager check these later on in their own time.
But they’ve not asked for my previous exam results breakdown when joined them. On the interview, they just asked me how many subjects I’ve passed/exempted so far, but not the marks or number of attempts.
And I don’t thinks so that, ACCA will provide any such info regarding my exam results directly to my employer. Or my employer will ask for any such info to ACCA either. And I think, it is between student (employee) and employer depending on the contract in place.
