Just wondered if someone could help me. I want to know what a seller’s rights are on this site if one is trying to sell the books/study material via OpenTution.com. What happens if one promises to buy the books and the seller posts the books as promised and spends money (and time) on postage etc – and on receipt of the books the buyer changes his mind. I thought by law the buyer should be bound to keep the books unless the material turned out to be different to what was promised initially. Can someone help please?
That sounds right to me – the buyer should keep the books and pay unless they are not in a satisfactory condition or they are not the books that were ordered. I dont think it has anything to do with open tuition – thats just the place where you met the buyer – it would be like trying to involve Macdonalds if thats where you met
But is this an international sale – it may be that the rules are different. If its within the one country where you and buyer are in the same country then local law should be able to tell you. Certainly if it were in the uk then buyer would have to complete the contract
Thanks for your reply, Biggles. I am based in the UK and would like to sell some study material within the UK via this portal. I wonder what i could do if the buyer gets the material by the post and refuses to pay after the receipt. I guess, we make these transactions based on trust.
