Hi Open Tuition,I am only one subject away from finishing my Diploma in accounting and business and have intentions of transferring to ACCA soon after. My question is I want to be able to do books independently for small businesses including helping with Tax submissions and all those little jobs just to get extra cash while doing my ACCA. I wanted to know if it would be legit to do so without being a Certified Accounting Technician but just using my Diploma to show that i’m qualified coz i want it to be legit or do i have to first write the additional two optional subjects and be a CAT first. The worrying thing about the CAT route for me is that i am currently not working in an accounts related job so it’ll be difficult to fulfill the required PER to become a CAT.What do i do to earn some extra bucks outside my normal job but using my qualifications so far. In other words what kind of independent jobs am i allowed to practise by ACCA Global with only the diploma, without stepping on anyone’s toes. Please can anyone with the correct knowledge about how this works assist me. Thank you

January 22, 2014 at 9:07 am #154293I was confused whether to complete CAT fully or continue studying ACCA directly from F4. I was doing FIA course. They cleared my problem by asking me to go to ACCA directly as soon after completing FIA. There are 3 papers in ACCA i guess F6,F9,F7 iam not exactly sure. They wanted me to complete 3 papers in ACCA from skills module so that i will be able to get CAT status easily without spending extra time.
