Hi all,
Hope your exams went well.
I just bought Kaplan P2 book and i am planning to write the international variant. So is the UK GAAP portions and questions relevant to the INT or is it just meant for those who take the UK variant ? Is it meant for students to discuss the difference between IFRS and UK GAAP?
Thanks
December 17, 2013 at 8:11 pm #153125Ive been told that the UKGAAP parts of Kaplan’s book is for UK students to be able to compare UKGAAP with IFRS. If you look on the ACCA website, examinable documents, you’ll see that the UK variant includes UK GAAP and IFRS whereas the International variant syllabus includes only IFRS

The UK variant of P2 is basically the INT paper tweaked in certain places to require discussion on the differences between IFRS & UK GAAP (up to 20 marks across the paper.) Therefore, for anybody doing the INT version of the paper, the extra sections in the textbook devoted to UK GAAP are irrelevant to them.
I presume Kaplan combines the textbook to cater for INT & UK variants because it’s cheaper than to produce two completely separate textbooks.
