I have recently passed the fundamentals level of the ACCA qualification and am looking at which exams to attempt next.
I’m not clear on the order which i am allowed to take the next exams.Do i have to take P1, P2 & P3 before i can attempt the options papers or am I allowed to take P1, P3 & P4 together?
Thanks in advance.
August 11, 2013 at 12:48 pm #137532You must either have passed the three core papers (P1, P2 and P3) before you can start the two option papers …..
OR you can enter (for example) P1, P2, P3 and P4 but not attend for any (or all) of the core papers and just do P4.
It’s an expensive way to get through the option papers because you will keep needing to enter the core papers on the occasions when you want to tackle the option papers.
For example, as above enter for P1, P2, P3 and P4 but only sit for P4 (and hopefully pass it)
Next session, enter P1, P2, P3 and P5 but only attend for P7 (and again hopefully pass)
That means that you will have completed the option papers without having looked at a core paper
One of my students passed his last exam 18 months ago – his last exam was F8! He had kept on entering it, but not attending.
As I said earlier, it’s an expensive choice!

I think i will enter P1, P2 & possibly P3 in December. From initial research it seems that P2, for me, is likely to be the most difficult of the options level papers. Thanks for the advice
