Hello. I just completed my F1, F2 and F3 a week ago and I’m planning to sit for F4, F5 and F6 coming December 2013. So I was wondering which type of “variant” is applicable to my country, Malaysia. Meanwhile, are the F4 notes provided here relevant for my additional reference? Thank you.

I did a similar post today but it’s not appearing here for some reason. Mine was slightly different from your question.
I asked about whether should I go for GLOBAL or ENGLISH. Having learned English one in Sri Lanka for my CA intermediate.
But currently I am working Saudi Arabia situation has changed a little and I am still not sure which variant I should take up. It also depends on which variant has more resources in open tuition (in terms of videos, notes, exam tips etc)
So, I kindly request from everyone to shed some light on this issue.
Thanks in advance.

I think ACCA has it (https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/acca/global/PDF-students/acca/f4/studyguides/f4-mys-SyllandSG-2013.pdf)
You should compare your variant of F4 (syllabus) with UK variant or Global variant (as OT notes are presented for UK and GLO variants). But I think it won’t match enough if you choose malaysian variant.
If you choose UK or GLO you can use notes from OT, and watch lectures (mostly for UK, but some will fit for GLO variant). Also in this case you can purchase materials from approved learning parners (Kaplan, BPP etc) – I don’t think that they have materials for malaysian variant.
Check what variant will bring more benefits to you!
June 18, 2013 at 5:28 pm #132854I think that OT has more resources on UK variant… But also has some for GLO!
While living in Ukraine I choosed Global. It’s not so case oriented and more general and useful in my country, imho
And I won’t come to UK in the nearest future for work : )You can also check “Ask the tutor F4 forum” – there are some points Mike Little posted about differences in variants (UK vs GLO).
December 31, 2013 at 10:54 am #153623Hi Nick123,
I am now in similar situation as you. I have completed F1 to F3 and now target to attempt F4 on June2014 sitting. i am planning to do self study or online study, but BPP or Kaplan only has UK or GLO variant while my profile has been registered as MYS variant.
Please, could you share what is your status now and how you went through the variant. Thank you

Hello.
I sat for F4 Corporate & Business Law (Malaysia variant) last sitting (December 2013). Not sure about Kaplan, but there is BPP study text for Malaysia variant F4. However, I heard that they have ceased the publication for Malaysian variant books now and the latest version I used was for June 2012 exams.
Therefore, you need to check if there are any major changes to the syllabus in determining whether the book is still “useable”. To be honest, I relied heavily on notes given by my tuition provider and the BPP book only served as an additional, more comprehensive study material.
Or, you can register for UK or GLO variant which is possible! However, I do not wish to comment further considering this is my mere assumption. Do call the ACCA hotline for justification and further assistance.
Wish you all the best!
