Yes you can attempt now. The exams dates have been changed. I attempted f7 and p2 together in June 2012 and passed both.
Best of Luck!!
February 9, 2013 at 2:01 pm #116752Hmmm, yes, you can. You may find P2 a bit of a challenge if you’re not strong in F7! But, yes, you can do both at the same sitting
February 10, 2013 at 7:37 am #116958Thanks I will take both of them this time then

If F7 isn’t the only paper you have to completed in the F papers module, then your access to the P papers module is reduced by the amount of F papers you still have to take. So.. since you can only take 4 papers at any one sitting, if you still have F7, F8 & F9 to pass, then the you’d only be able to apply for F7, F8, F9 & P1. You wouldn’t be able to skip to P2.
March 16, 2013 at 3:05 pm #119895Actually, I do not believe that Fidget is correct. It is my understanding that you can take the Essential papers ( P1, P2 and P3 ) in any sequence you want. That being the case, you could enter for F7 and P2 without having to enter for P1 at the same time.
Fidget IS correct in saying that you cannot start into the Essentials until you have passed ( or at least are entering for ) all the F level papers

As MikeLittle has correctly pointed out, you can do the papers in a module in any sequence you want, in the Professional stage (ie P1, P2 and P3) you can do them in any order. The rule merely states you cannot skip a module, but it does not restrict the order in which you complete a module.
March 16, 2013 at 8:34 pm #119917Sorry folks, but I am right about this. Within any module you can do the papers in any order you like. The modules are:
F1 – F3
F4 – F9
P1 – P3
P4 – P7So for example, you are in Modue F4 – F9. Within that module you can the papers in it in any order you choose, BUT, if you are crossing over into the next module whilst you still have papers to complete in your current module, you have to take the papers in the next module in the order they come in.
So, to sit F7 & P2 requires sitting P1 as well.
I know it sounds a bit confusing, but that’s how it works.
I’ve posted a link here before to ACCA that explains this. Will try and find it again.
March 16, 2013 at 9:13 pm #119919it’s here:
“If your status allows you to enter for papers across modules, please remember that you must complete the papers in order and enter for outstanding papers in your current module if you wish to enter to sit papers in the next module.”
The question of which order you can sit papers in came up quite a few times on ACCA’s facebook drop-in sessions quite recently where ACCA were answering questions people had about various things.

My advice would be, if you haven’t already registered for the exams is just to do F7 on its own and get a pass in that and that’s you done with the F papers.
March 17, 2013 at 5:25 pm #119961Sorry Fidget, but I’m still disagreeing with you
March 17, 2013 at 6:06 pm #119967And rightly so. I’ve misinterpreted what the progression rule means.
March 18, 2013 at 12:22 pm #120021Thank Heavens for that – you called into question all that I have been saying for years!
April 27, 2013 at 11:36 am #123661Hi. To elaborate on what was originally posted.
Say hypothetically you took F8 and F9 with P1 in one sitting.
But failed F8, passing F9 and P1.
Would it pose a problem to then enter for P2 and P3 along with F8? As one would have already passed P1. Or would you have to complete F8 before carrying on with the P papers?April 28, 2013 at 7:06 am #123700One can sit for F8 along with P2 and P3, assuming F8 is the only paper left in F series.
