Anbody has any tips for SLS and presentation. I am writing it, but there isnt a lot said about so not really sure if my approach is correct…
Maybe sharing experiences… plus how many slides are normal for the presentation i am on 15 now?
ThanksOctober 27, 2011 at 5:28 pm
I replied to a similar post, read it here:
About the presentation slides…I dont think there is a prescribed number, however, I had 23. This is including the starting slide.May 6, 2016 at 1:10 pm
My mentor is based in a different country than me. We have been communicating mostly on email and Whatsapp. We agreed to do the final presentation on Skype…
Looking through the SLS exemplars, as an answer to 1st question, we need to describe regarding meetings with mentor… however when no meeting has taken place, how to document it?
Thanks!May 7, 2016 at 7:44 am
My mentor also belongs to different country but i did not mentioned this in SLS while there is no need to mentioned this. You need to write the details about your meeting not how does this meetings has been set (skype or face to face) and same with the presentation. You need to write what did you learn from presentation like improved communication, body language and blah blah blah..
remember you have to asnwer the question about what did you LEARNED from meetings not how does they was arranged.May 7, 2016 at 8:24 am

Good points @Handsome- as you say the focus should be on learning – what you learned, new skills and how such techniques helped you achieve your objectives etc. What you don’t do is focus on what happened and what you or your mentor did or said. This is supposed to be a self-reflective statement not a diary or witness statement of what took place.November 7, 2016 at 10:57 pm
Wanted to ask if its mandatory for the answers to be between 350 to 650 words each?
Can one answer be around 320 words and still pass?
All other answers are in the word limit and total is 2000 words as required.
Thanks!November 8, 2016 at 12:37 am
At least 320 words per question. However it is the quality of the self-reflection that matters not the number of words. 500 words of waffle for each question would fail whereas 320 – 650 of decent evaluation should pass.November 8, 2016 at 12:46 am
Great! Thanks Trephena for being helpful as always! =)November 11, 2016 at 6:56 am
Please can anyone help me..
I will like to know whether after passing SLS in my first submission I will still need to submit an updated PowerPoint presentation in my subsequent submission of RAP.
Please it’s urgentNovember 11, 2016 at 8:31 pm
If you passed both the self-reflection and Presentation then no you don’t. Otherwise if you only passed the SLS then you will need to upload it and also if you changed company or topic but did not pass both sections 8 and 9.November 11, 2016 at 8:36 pm
Thank youNovember 12, 2016 at 7:10 am
I am confused. i just did the 4 question answering of SLS and i was just checking the ACCA website and it says that SLS should be a 2000 word assessment from Nov 16 submission onwards but the new Info Pack still asks to answer the 4 questions. Which one to follow?November 12, 2016 at 8:06 am
Confused? So am I 🙂 !!!
However I have been told by OBU that either are acceptable (but I think they have dropped the idea of the essay). So no one should worry provided the SLS is packed with self-reflection (not a ‘diary’ of what you and the mentor said and did) – how you were affected and built on your personal strengths and overcame your weaknesses for example it should be fine.
So chill baby, chill! 😀 -and good luck!November 13, 2016 at 12:26 am
Should we include commentary on the slides about the graphs?November 13, 2016 at 7:43 am
A little explanation of the key points that are relevant to the particular slideNovember 13, 2016 at 4:55 pm

Hey!! my SLS words as per MS word count were 2002, I had reduced them but forgot to save the file. So, on the basis of two excessive words will my SLS be failed?November 26, 2016 at 11:39 am
Never! So chill baby, chill! 🙂November 26, 2016 at 3:00 pm

I need some help on my SLS (Reflection)
When answering the 4 questions I need to write in 1st person right?
Also, do i need to put references in the Word Document, for example what is communication or write everything by myself on my personal strengths and overcoming weaknesses?
Thank you!April 4, 2017 at 10:30 am
Yes the SLS should be written in the first person.
Normally unless you are referring to a specific document/ piece of research there would be nothing to reference
It is an assessment of your learning and development experience of the challenges presented and how you built on your personal strengths and overcame weaknesses. Emphasis on assessment and evaluation i.e. it is not a description of what you did but rather it’s importance in your development skills.April 6, 2017 at 8:15 pm
Thank you @trephena for the prompt reply.
For the submission of May 2017, the SLS need to be structured to answer the 4 questions right? Because i heard for a long essay for assessment and evaluation of my experiences.
Could you please clarify to me? Thank you!!April 9, 2017 at 12:56 am
They have scrapped the essay idea. Answer the 4 questionsApril 24, 2017 at 4:34 pm
Hi @trephena again I am doing my presentation slides and i need to ask you about referencing in the presentation.
I am doing topic 8, do i need to cross-references the graphs with the Excel?
Let;s say my SWOT analysis data are from different sources , do i need to write bullets points and then reference or just bullets points and I will be okay without referencing as it is referenced in my RAP? I don’t mean quoting someone words!
Thank you for your advices all along!
