Anybody using them or used them before? I am considering it.

In my opinion, it reminds me of the GCSEs cgb books you use to get from wh smiths. In that every different area is a new chapter.
Every chapter starts with a visual overview and guidance of what to learn. Then it has a main element of text covering the area in detail. Finally, ending with a quiz for each chapter.I think that what Becker has done compared to my Kaplan notes in F7 is that it has separate each part into a different chapter which can help you to explain the small areas in more detail. But it is up to you tbh as I think they are all comparable.
May 2, 2016 at 10:56 am #313325I used those books at GCSE and really liked them!
I know you replied to me before about trying to improve in F7. I have been looking for paid tuition/private but it is all too expensive. I haven’t even entered to resit F7 in June just F8 as I am sure that with no extra help I cannot pass F7 in June.
It is not even about putting the time in, it is that I can’t grasp the concepts, really stuck here as I usually use BPP study texts and rev kits along with Open Tuition lectures which worked for passing 4 papers last year.

Also, I think if you have the time try to concentrate on just 1 module every three months as it may make it easier to just focus on one module
Yeah, I know what you mean as I am sitting f7 in June. Only just finished my notes yesterday and got a month to learn/study and finish the syllabus which is going to be tough as not free most of the weekends and work full time.
Is there anything in particular you find difficult in F7 as for me it seems to be just forgetting concepts as soon as I move to the next chapter, I struggle with retaining information till I go through it many times which I will not get the time for.
I know what you mean with respect to the concepts as everyone else I know doing f7 is doing the full classroom/question day/ revision days with a tuition provider which I find way too expensive as I am self funding. It comes to like £1600 a module where I am based in Leicester.
I think the key from others I have spoken to is practice with respect to those modules. I think maybe a classroom or if you looking to save a live online session with s tuition provider might be the option for F7 because I would assume they would help with respect to exam technique but good luck and hope you all the best in your F8 resit.May 2, 2016 at 9:33 pm #313409Yes I think so too and I did this last year and it worked.
Oh right, what did you do in March? F8? I am going to still try and go over some F7 questions even though not attempting the exam in June as I think it is going to take some time for me to get my head around it but obviously the week before the exam it will be much easier not trying to juggle two revision kits.
Well that is tough if you don’t have weekends either, can you get up early on weekdays?
I couldn’t do the adjustments. I did a question where there were 11 workings and was freaking out as I just couldn’t remember how to do them all and then I got to another question where there were less but different adjustments to do. In the open tuition practice questions I think the most I came across in one question was 6 but also where lectures sometimes don’t cover all of the questions I forget to sit and do them myself. Sometimes they are the longer and more difficult ones :SI am self funding too and so far paid nothing for any tuition for ACCA. It is the same price here in London which I think is absurd. A friend of mine went on just the 2 day revision course for F7 in December but failed then and again in March. It doesn’t guarantee a pass.
Becker actually sent me an email today and I have registered, checking out what they have got but I am trying to find a person face-to-face to speak to and also mark my answers and give feedback that I can maybe pay by the hour. I am meeting with someone tomorrow night after work for this in relation to F8 for an introductory meeting.
By the way even the online courses are expensive and I am not sure that you would get anymore feedback than open tuition already give.
Thank you very much, good luck to you too.

Yeah I been doing one module every three months since I have started, got F7 and F9 left of the fundamentals, just went on order generally. I think it helps as I find it easier to focus completely on one module rather than two at a time tbh.
I think I will just work most evenings after work, enough if it is an hour or two and hopefully it will build up to enough revision, it seems to be tough to get the time tbh.
I think the meeting may be a good idea, could help you. Let me know if you have any questions if I can help.
I emailed a tutor for the F7 and he said that often the first adjustment for a 30 marker is there to scare people, so if you can’t do the first few adjustments ignore them and do the other adjustments you can do, it seems like good advice tbf.
Well anyway, hopefully that has helped and I think the Becker notes maybe helpful to you in the case of format, it also has a short video with each lecture covering it quickly, sort of like the opentuition tutors. Something I forget to mention.
All the best in your exams.May 3, 2016 at 9:51 pm #313581I sat F9 in Dec last year and passed as I thought F7 and F8 were good papers to study together and I desperately wanted to finish this level off. I now definitely agree about one at a time.
It just seems that all tuition is too expensive and yes most of it has to come from yourself finding the time to sit down and practice. In fact I only just read your last response to me on the F8 March paper thread that has now been closed. I don’t seem to get any notifications.
What you have been saying is helpful and I use BPP and never used a Kaplan revision kit before.Too many of those adjustments scared me lol.
I think I will be checking out all options that are cheapest before I resort to paying for help. All the best in yours too.
