Hi,
I have written in the last two sittings two exams each. i.e. F4,6,8 in Dec 2014 and passed 4&8, While writing F5,6,7 in Dec 2014 and passed F5&6. I am currently contemplating attempting F7 and F9 in June 2015. I have a very demanding job as I work at EY. Do you think this is a wise decision. Note: I have started studying as of Today for F7. So again, do you think this is wise? and do you think it is possible within the remaining time? Also, any possible suggestions for study patterns between now and June? Thank you!April 1, 2015 at 12:15 am #239737Hi Neil
Working at EY is not unique! My personal experience of EY is that they run internal courses as well as sending students on external courses in preparation for the professional exams. Is that still correct?
It seems that you have established a pattern here ….. take three and pass two. Should you not therefore be aiming for F7, F9 AND (say) P1 🙂
Preparation – I can’t speak for F9 but John’s notes and lectures appear to be well received and I know his pass rates compare most favorably with any benchmark. I believe my own F7 notes and lectures are sufficient for a conscientious student to be able to go into that exam room with a fair degree of confidence.
In answer to your question – yes, it’s wise and yes, it’s possible
And you’ve always got the ongoing support of John and me to guide you through any problem areas that you may encounter.
Study patterns? F9 I cannot help – post your query on the F9 Ask the Tutor page
F7 – watch the lectures with the course notes in front of you. Work the examples and sort out any queries as you meet them. Practice the “preparation of accounts” type questions from the revision kit. Work through ALL the mini-exercises at the back of the course notes (that is REALLY important)
Read through, and get a general understanding of, the topics In chapters 17 onwards for which there are no lectures. And then get stuck into past exam questions many of which have recoded answers by me on the site
And, if you get stuck, post again
April 1, 2015 at 3:49 pm #239829Hi Mike,
Sorry for posting the question the question twice, it only after I posted to the lecture video that I realized it should really have asked it here and I didn’t know how to remove it.
In EY Trinidad , they do run internal courses for learning their practice and methodology but it is limited to just that. The guidance they provide on standards etc is tailored to the EY methodology, it is a help but not enough to get through F7 I think.
Thank you for the advice and encouragement, I would attempt both papers then and follow the pattern you suggested.
Thank you again!
