Qn) How are auditors normally appointed to audit a public company ?
Ans : By directors on behalf of the shareholders
Why is this so ? In most jurisdictions, the shareholders appoint the auditor by voting them in the general meeting right ?
You are correct. Directors recommend auditors but shareholders must vote on the appointment.
Where did that question and answer come from?
The question and answer was from my lecture notes. Just to confirm with you, both public and private companies have shareholders right?
