Hello,
Was wondering of using headings in writing answers is discouraged and whats the desirable way of answering questions
No, headings are OK.
When answering written part of questions, best is to make each point on a separate line (with a blank line between each point, so the marker does not miss any of them).
Rather than writing a heading, I think better (quicker) is to underline a key word in your point (or write the key word in capitals).
Don’t write too much – one or two lines for each point is enough. (The examiners always writes more than they expect students write.)
