    Hi,

Unfortunately I failed P1 in June πŸ™ and I am having to resit in December.
I am happy to do this, however my ACCA status indicated that I was now eligible to sit the Option papers.
So, in order to ease my study schedule, I decided I was going to do P1 and P7 Audit, since I work in Audit I though it would be a help to reduce my study time.

So here I am happy studying away for the last 3 weeks, and I try to enter for P1 and P7, only to be told that I cant do P7 because I havent yet completed P1 or P3???

Is there something I am not understanding here? – Why is ACCA “unlocking” an Exam for me but then preventing me from sitting it??

I am most agrieved because I have now decided to do P1 and P3 in December and have lost 3 weeks study time for P3 which for me is unfamiliar territory.

    Anyone have the answer???

    Thanks

You need to complete or have to attempt all papers till P3 to sit in Optional Papers.

Like I did F8, P3, P4 and P7 at a time. Similarly you have to select P1 and P3 with P7 to attempt it, you can’t skip on of necessary Professional paper before attempting Optional papers.

    zlip792 is correct.

The ACCA rule has always been that you must have completed or be attempting P1, P2 and P3 before you can attempt the optional papers.

The reason that P7 is ‘unlocked’ is that you are allowed to attempt it provided you attempt P1, P2, and P3 at the same time.

Ok thanks guys that seems to have cleared that up for me – even if it wasnt the answer I wanted lol!!

So am I correct in saying, for example, if I was to pass say P1 and fail P3 (or vice versa) this December, in June I can only sit an option paper so long as I take that resit with it at the same time?
    (BTW – I have completed everything except P1, P3 & my options).

I was hoping to be complete by June 14!!

Best get some overtime in with these lectures and revision!!

    Thanks again

Oh – the other thing I meant to ask – what if I did sit P1, P3 & an option, and failed P1 & P3 but passed the option.
Would they then take the pass off me?

    Thanks

No – if you pass the option then you keep the pass even if you failed the others.
(and if you want you can just be absent for the others and still keep the pass – but the problem is that they will not refund the money if you are absent πŸ™ )

    @ Marky123

As you have prepared for p7 for 3 weeks & want to give p1 along with p7 so your 3 weeks work is not lost, what you can do is pay the fee for p1, p3 & p7 if you can & give p1, p7 & skip p3 exam. That will save your 3 weeks effort & also you are more likely to pass an exam for which you have prepared well.
