I self – study and rely on open tuition and the study texts. I’m not sure on which papers to choose from the 4 option papers.
I’m now left with 4 papers to complete the course, still to sit P2 and P3 as well,
I’m considering which 2 papers to take in June
February 11, 2014 at 1:18 pm #158114I think that you should consider two things:
One is how easy or difficult you found the earlier papers (P4 continues from F9; P5 continues from F5; P6 continues from F6; P7 continues from F8). If (for example) you found F9 awful, then maybe it would be a mistake to choose P4 🙂
The second is whether you have any particular plans for the future. For example, if you are (or intend to become) an auditor, then it would be sensible to choose P7.

P2 is a bit of a beast, so I would strongly recommend that you take that one on it’s own to avoid disappointment. If you were to take it with another subject I’d say P7 seems like a good fit. In P2 you prepare statements in accordance with IFRS and in P7 you need to test if the IFRS standards are complied with and how to detect mis-statement.
HAve you thought about taking online clasess with Kaplan/BPP/LSBF? Would be well worth it for P2 I reckon.
I should mention however, that I haven’t yet done P7 but will take it along with P5 as my final two papers in June.
Good luck!
February 11, 2014 at 1:23 pm #158116One thing I forgot to mention is that you cannot take the option papers in June (unless you take them in addition to P2 and P3).
You have to have completed P1 to P3 to be allowed to take the option papers (or be taking them at the same time).
February 12, 2014 at 9:52 am #158368P3 is not a tough subject so you can do that with P2 easily if you are disciplined and study. P2 and P7 are linked, however they are both challenging and could prove difficult in one sitting. I have just passed P2 and P3 and I have just chosen my option papers 🙂 make sure you base your decisions on what you plan on doing in the future and not necessarily what everyone tells you is easy. If it is something which you want to do in the future you will enjoy studying it more and it will also benefit you more in your career. All modules can be done if you put your mind to it 🙂 good luck!
