Hello,
I am 35 years old and considering to study ACCA, however i have already CMA, CIA and MBA, and 15 years of experience in field of finance and audit ( currently working as internal auditor ). i have two questions related to the ACCA:
1- If i want to obtain ACCA, considering my age, is it too late ?
2- Does it will help me in the job market to find a better opportunity? or they will consider me too qualified ?
Appreciate your valuable feedback.
December 31, 2020 at 9:21 am #601210We can’t really advise as we’re not careers advisors but I would say it’s never too late to get a qualification – I obtained an additional GCSE (“O level”) when I was 40 – the same time my son was sitting GCSEs at school. And one of the first people I met studying ACCA was 40.
Re job market etc – you need to research that in your location – this is a bit old now but will give you an idea https://www.efinancialcareers.co.uk/news/evergreen/cfa-mba-aca-acca-cima-will-get-job-pays
As a CIA presumably you need to do CPD – so I believe you could claim working towards other qualifications as CPD.
You should also get exemptions – https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/exemptions-calculator.html If you put “chartered institute of internal auditors” in the first box you can then select CIA – put in your year of graduation and it will tell you what exemptions you can claim. Similarly for your other qualifications. In total you could be exempt up to 9 exams leaving only the strategic professional level (5 exams).
