I have no idea how but I passed with 63%. In the exam hall I gave it up in the first hour because I couldn’t even calculate the FX gain/loss on a credit purchase properly. Then I just said I would take it as a practice session (an expensive mock exam). I wrote a detailed answer to Q2 but as far as I remember, I barely touched Q4. I expected 30 to 40 marks.
I’d like to thank Stephen and Chris for their excellent lectures and tips. I laughed a lot on Stephen’s jokes. 🙂 I’d say I had the basic knowledge about all the required accounting standards (but not the details) and I just wish I had practiced more questions to boost my confidence and to avoid losing the spirit if something doesn’t go as planned.
I practiced in an Excel sheet and word processor and sometimes in the official practice platform, that probably helps. This was my last exam. It took me exactly ten years to pass all of them… (with a couple of years of pause when I didn’t take any exams)
Before starting using OpenTuition, I failed P2 at least thrice, simply because I was really unprepared. I think I matured quite a lot in the process and I passed my last two exams with OpenTuition (AFM and SBR) with good marks, on the first attempts.“Don’t give up” is a cliché but it’s just absolutely true.
July 18, 2022 at 9:06 am #661021My strategy for studying all exams is following.
1.I cover all text book and dont move onto the next chapter until i fully understand the content. Which means sometimes i spend a few days on a few pages because I struggle with them. Also i make my notes for each chapter as i learn while writing. And then revise from my notes.
2. Exam kit is a must. Although for this exam i had only 1 week for revision, but i took a whole week off from work. Also i analysed the sample answers, it took me over an hour to check my answers and make notes. I did not managed to cover all exam kit. I also did not have time left for pilot exam. (Not good, it is better yo find time for this)
3. I read technical articles. They are very useful.
4. If i struggle with a topic, i watch some open tuition lectures. But my key study method is kaplan text book.July 18, 2022 at 9:12 am #661023Passed first time with 72%. Very shocked to be honest, though it was going to be either just below or just above 50%.
Best of luck to everyone!

Just want to say a special thanks to Stephen for his calming voice and silly jokes, that helped me to stay calm during revision.
Bye bye SBR bye bye.

“Don’t give up” is a cliché but it’s just absolutely true.
This is encouraging, its taking me a while with a few ‘life’ breaks also. Well done on completing I bet you’re over the moon you don’t have to do anymore studying!
July 19, 2022 at 11:11 am #661290Thanks Gina, I also wish you the best for any remaining papers!
I’m happy but I’m not even an accountant (I’m doing valuation control of financial derivatives), so I probably won’t use this knowledge directly, though I know I have built some useful skills with these exams.
Next I’ll probably learn some coding, so I do have to do some more studying if I want to keep myself valued in the job market.July 19, 2022 at 1:07 pm #661307Can someone please advise which is better SBR Revision Kit – BPP or Kaplan?.
July 19, 2022 at 2:14 pm #661314Passed first time – thank you Open Tuition!
Used OT’s lecture and revision videos along with Kaplan’s Pocket notes and Exam kit book.I also feel it’s worth mentioning that there’s a donate option on this website, for anyone interested/able – I know I’m not the only one who’s benefitted from OT!
