Hi everyone!!
Quick info about me.
So I was working in big 4 back in the day, 2017 to be exact, I started my ACCA and went on until F5. Had zero exemptions. Passed all the papers from the first time. And I was a little different from other people in my position as I already had a 1,5 year old kid.
Due to some unfortunate circumstances that happened in my life, it took a tall on me and I resigned and stopped pursuing my career and studies.
I did try to collect myself back in place, I’m still in a process, but I feel that now I can do it again. Now I have 2 kids ? but they are older age. I’m stay at home mother. We have certain arrangements in our life because my husband has very demanding job, and working hours can be all over the place. This I’m saying just to explain why I have to rely mainly on myself as there is no real back up plan for me. We live in a third country, which is not mine or his home country so we don’t have relatives around.
So, I have re registered, I have F1-F5 passed. Now , I’m thinking of taking F7 and F8 for March exam sitting. But I’m doubting myself right now, it’s been a long time, I’m scared that I won’t manage.
So I would like to ask for your guys opinions, do you think taking 2 classes for March after such a break is too much? Should I go for F7 only and see how do I feel and then when I feel more confident take 2 exams for next sitting ? I’m thinking of taking 2 because assuming all is well my kids are in school and I can have 2-3 hours per day 5 times a week. Would that be good enough?
Also if some of you have similar experiences with starting after a long period of time, doing it when you already have full time responsibilities like family and kids, I would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
Thank you all so much!!!

Once you have looked at these you should have more ideas whether to resume with FR and/or AA.
You could always decide to start both now – but if too much, and you fall behind on your study plan (you can find a pdf here to use https://www.accaglobal.com/content/dam/ACCA_Global/Students/resourceFinder/ACCA_Study_Planner_2020_v5.pdf), you can always enter for just one exam in March.

October 25, 2023 at 8:45 pm #693977Welcome back to study! I too started a long time ago and had a break in between due to life and family commitments. I took it up again from December 2021 and sat just one paper at a time. I was going to take two papers at my first sitting because like you, I was able to devote a lot more time to study than the average student who would probably only have evenings to study. However, a few weeks in I was already beginning to struggle. So I dropped back to sitting just one paper at a time and I passed first time every time up to the end of applied skills. I am now on strategic professional and that has been a real struggle, but that’s a different story.
Anyway, my experience has been to take one paper at a time. Slowly but surely, that’s the approach that worked for me. Good luck!

Could you also please tell me which kind of tuition did you use? Online ? Some physical school where you are based?
I’m thinking about it now…
October 28, 2023 at 5:56 pm #694112I used online classes at a school in the country where I live. They used to offer only classroom based tuition before the pandemic, but when they transitioned to online classes they never went back. It suited me very well because of family commitments and in honesty, if I had to battle traffic to get to a physical location one or two evenings a week and some weekends, I don’t think I would have done it.
Drop me a note on moran17030@gmail.com if you like and I’ll be happy to tell you more.
