Thank you opentuition and John sirJanuary 17, 2022 at 5:56 am #646486Can you share your tips? I’m going to attempt AA in March. Did you only use OpenTution materials for passing? Hod did you prepared for the exam and how much time did you studied?
January 17, 2022 at 7:15 am #646512First Attempt 71%.
January 17, 2022 at 8:13 am #646540My tip to pass – not to leave studying to last minute. I got 73% first attempt. I study with Kaplan book. And if i dont understand something, i watch a video here. When i read a textbook, i dont move on to the next chapter until i understand fully the chapter i am reading and i take notes. Also, doing exam kit as much as possible and analysing the mistakes of each question. (Focusing on quality over quantity in terms of the exam kit questions done)
January 17, 2022 at 8:28 am #646548Pass 55% thank god!!!
January 17, 2022 at 8:51 am #646557I studied AA for 3 weeks and passed with 66 in June’21 (and am also an auditor at a B4 so experience helps). The trick is to know that the format answer for Risk, ToC, Substantive is all the same.
1. What is the error
2. What the error could do to an account in the FS (i.e. overstatement/understatement)
3. What should be done to rectify the error.Hope the 3 points help
January 17, 2022 at 9:25 am #646580Pass with 59% I’m a very happy man. It’s been a ride.
Won’t be doing audit for the advanced papers though hahah…January 17, 2022 at 9:31 am #646588I studied using BPP ebook and each time I was reviewing the answers at the end of the book I was feeling overwhelmed because my answers were much shorter than the book. But I understood it’s normal to be shorter but clear, as you don’t have time to write a novel in the exam.
I didn’t like this subject at all, I hated it while studying but I planned the study as well as I could and I practiced a lot, more than with any other exam I had before. Practice is really important here because you cannot learn by heart the answers. I didn’t want to redo it, so I tried to do my best.
Audit risks will always appear on this exam (it was mentioning in a debrief also) so they are important. For me, while studying, controls seems to be the easier, but I struggled a bit during the exam. Substantive were the hardest for me, as I didn’t had the time to study them more and they also appeared in the exam. So, everything is there, there is nothing more important than other.
For the time study, I dedicated about 3 months, but approximately 1 and a half was of intensive study (3 to 4 h/day as I am also working full time).
There is a post on this forum about someone who passed with 85%. I read it twice, and I would recommend it.
Ah, and don’t practice on paper. Use the computer, use excel, word, whatever you want but not paper. (i am a paper writing lover but it’s important to simulate the exam as much as possible, to count the time you spend on questions…)January 17, 2022 at 9:49 am #64660250% cutting it close!
January 17, 2022 at 10:28 am #646631Fail..48%, wouldn’t be so upsetting if it was like 40% fail lol.. gutted as not sure which area of the syllabus let me down the most.Oh well, planning the re-sit now.
January 17, 2022 at 10:30 am #646633Pass, 67%. 1st attempt.
January 17, 2022 at 10:46 am #646644How did you study for the substantive procedures I find it so hard to understand them
Well done on your resultsJanuary 17, 2022 at 10:54 am #64665647% fail
January 17, 2022 at 12:49 pm #64670164% first attempt.
To be honest i thought i would score way higher, I practiced well enough, attended the webinar, took several mock exams and attempted all questions, didn’t find the exam challenging and i smiled all through. I don’t mean to sound proud but i’m very grateful i got a pass. The point in this is to never get comfortable at any stage, keep pushing in the exams. Also, in the exam, don’t think what you’ve written will get you to 50%, give that extra shove, it might be what will save you.
January 17, 2022 at 1:41 pm #646723Studying for the substantive is going to be the most time consuming. I did a CEAVOP (assertions) table for each primary account with 3-4 bullet points for each type of assertion. It should be a huge table but if you prepare a few weeks in advance and just keep looking at it everyday/every other day it should be pure memorization. There is logic behind testing each assertion but under time pressure one would be better off memorizing 2-3 bullet points for each
January 17, 2022 at 2:14 pm #646739pass with 64%
