Imran claims that Zak owes him £1,000 as a result of a breach of contract.
In which court will Imran start his action against Zak?

    Magistrates’ Court
    County Court
    The High Court

The high court QBD also hear cases on contract and tort. However the answer here is county court, is it because small and medium track claims go to county court? And those of of higher value above 25000 go to high court?

While the High Court can hear civil cases, the relevant route for civil cases involving a breach of contract, such as Imran’s claim against Zak, is the County Court.

    OK?

Does it have to do with small value of the claim too? As small and medium value vali,s are heard in county, where as anything above 25000 (multi track) in high court

The question is written in such a way with a value of just $1,000 in order to instantly eliminate the concept of significant value taking us to High Court.

This question is asking you (effectively) to ignore the element of value and concentrate instead on the appropriate route for civil cases in the context of a breach of contract.

IF the question had been asking about the appropriate court for cases where monetary amounts were important, the value in the question would have been noticeably more substantial than the £25,000.

    OK
