Access Rights and Password Protection
Every Sage is set up with a default Logon “MANAGER”.
For data protection and security requirements a password should be added. **Warning, once the Manager logon has a password you cannot access sage without the password so please keep safe.
Access Rights
Using the Access Rights feature, each individual person with access to Sage 50 accounts can be set a password. This also gives the ability to restrict “areas the user can access. For an example a data entry clerk will be able to access the customer accounts without seeing the bank or nominal area.
To do this you must be logged on with the user name Manager.
From the menu bar, choose Settings > Access Rights. The User Access Rights window appears.
Here a new user can be created, or existing user edited and even deleted. ( Ideal when a user leaves the company.) It is easy to copy a user details (useful if you have 2 staff doing similar jobs) and restrict which options, menus and windows a user has access to.
Once a user has been created click on the details and a screen will popup confirming access type.
By high lighting the module (i.e. customers) further options can be seen to restrict a users access. In this example we have a junior member of staff we would like to restrict access in part of the customer area. Using the Dialogs icon it has been confirmed the member of staff will have no access to customer receipts.
Note: For single-user licences, the Access Rights facility is only available if you select the Access Rights check box on the Parameters tab of Company Preference
