This has nothing to do with activity based costing, and is not relevant anywhere in the Paper PM syllabus!!

Hi, Can it be said that traditional absorption costing tends to over-estimate overhead costs for high volume products?

Thank you so much. i really admire your wonderful presentation. i have started revising using kaplan. one more clarification, when we use traditional OAR the low-volume products are under-allocated. i was wondering if the company decide to switch to ABC the net result will be increase of OH for the low-volume product always. What if the product has the highest ratio in the cost driver?

    thanks.

It will tend to increase the overhead cost of low-volume products. Whether in fact it actually always does depends on all the factors involved (the individual costs and activities etc..)

It will probably work out fine, but I bought the latest “BPP Practice and Revision Kit” today and it specifically covers Sep 2019 to Jun 2020 examinations.

FYI: the eKit cost less than 拢10 from BPP when I used the 20% discount code provided from Open Tuition

It doesn’t really matter when you do the questions in the Revision Kit. However one problem there can be is that some questions are testing more than one topic in the same question and obviously although we cover all the topics, each one is covered in separate lectures.

Probably the best is to finish watching all the lectures (and attempting our short online tests after each lecture). When you have finished studying then work through all the questions in your Revision Kit. If you find you have forgotten some of the things from the lecture then refer back to the lectures where necessary.

There is a short test on each chapter. The tests are linked from the main Paper PM page.

(They are only quick tests to attempt as you continue you with your studies. As we make clear in the introductory lecture it is essential that you buy a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers because practice using past exam and other exam standard questions is vital to passing the exam.)

Youtube does have an auto-subtitling system which can you read off of during the lectures (I do and find it helpful!). Although, beware that it has a lot of errors as it’s not checked over by anyone. –I assume this is what the comment above me is referring to.

However there is nothing we can do about any errors there might be in the subtitling.
