Please tell us in which country you live, and what work do you do.
I’m from the island of Malta and I work in the strategy department of Malta’s only airport.
How much time each week did you spend studying, on average?
For F2 and F3 I studied on average an hour each week. However this was in conjunction with lessons I attended, which average another 4 hours per week.
Which study resources did you use?
I use everything that I can get my hands on! I aim to achieve a complete understanding of each topic, therefore I compliment the lectures and notes from the school I attend (Richard Clarke Academy) with the lectures on OpenTuition as well as all the practice questions I can find. I also use the Kaplan Kit and acowtancy.com, both of which are extremely useful to give you the confidence that you are on the right track.
Did you get support from your firm?
Yes, the company for which I work is supporting my studies, even in terms of days off when necessary 馃檪
What was your approach to your studying?
I first attend the lecture and absorb as much as possible. We get to work out questions all the time, which I find incredibly useful. Then when I feel like I have grasped the topic, I work the Practice Tests from OpenTuition and in cases where I’m still not totally confident I go to the online lectures.
Three weeks prior to the exam I step-up my studying significantly. First I go through my notes, then I work all examples from the Kaplan Kit, as well as the online practice tests and any other past papers that I have. I normally do about four chapters at a go, so I would first read through the notes of the four chapters, then do all the examples available on all resources.
When I’ve covered all the material, I do the CBE specimen on the ACCA website. I also take special note of the tricky questions that I come across and revise them all on the day before the exam – I find this particularly useful!
What would you say was the most important factor that helped you to achieve such a high mark?
Practice. Work all the examples that you can find.
How did you find out about OpenTuition, and which of our resources did you use?
My brother who did his ACCA before me suggested it to me. I used the lectures and the practice questions
