Interview with Aniqa, December 2015 F8 Genius Hunt Winner, who scored 90%

aniqaInterview with Aniqa Adnan Khan – scored 90% in F8 Audit and Assurance

Please tell us in which country you live, and what work do you do?

I currently reside in Birmingham, United Kingdom. I work full-time in an accountancy firm as an Accounts Assistant.

How much time each week did you spend studying, on average?

On average I spend 15 – 20 hrs on each subject per week. In December session I appeared for two exams F8 and P1 and I prepared for them in two months.

Which study resources did you use?

I have done all my ACCA exams through self-study. I usually use Kaplan’s study text and BPP revision kit as I find Kaplan books precise and easy to comprehend and BPP revision kits challenging. I also used ACCA global student resources technical articles and past papers. This was the first time I used Open Tuition’s lectures which I found very resourceful.

Did you get support from your firm?

No I did not get any support. My support system was my husband and prayers from my family.

What was your approach to your studying?

I initially studied Kaplan text book and then I saw a few lectures of F8 on OT to enhance my understanding. I found the OT F8 tutor very competent. His style of explaining and elaboration on the topic was really helpful. His P3 lectures are also very well set out. From the BPP revision kit I just did the MCQs and the rest I did past papers from June 2015 to 2010.

What would you say was the most important factor that helped you to achieve such a high mark?

The most important factor which led to this success was practicing the past papers. Practicing numerous questions on Audit risk and responses, substantive procedures and deficiencies and recommendation helped me score high marks. I found practicing past papers the most resourceful and helpful in all my exams. You tend to know what topics the examiner is focusing on and what type of questions you can expect in an exam. My grandfathers used to say ‘never give up

; always practice – as practice makes a man perfect’. The areas you think you are weak in you need to focus on it the most. The key to theoretical papers is to practice writing and writing.

How did you find out about OpenTuition, and which of our resources did you use?

I like to do a lot of research online and find other resources other than the text book to help me get a grasp on the knowledge. I came across OT on Google search and signed up and used the F8 lectures and flashcards.

That’s really appreciatable . Actually I wish if I had seen ur strategy earlier. Because f8 was a total disaster for me . I had to repeat it 3 times after which I got a 51. BUT was thankful that I cleared

    Congratulations Aniqa,

Did you mean you spend 15-20 Hrs/WEEK per Paper (F8 ), or by SUBJECT you meant Topics or Chapters ? i am confused this would require say 20 weeks for 20 chapters…

Kindly clear my doubt as i am challenged with proper time planning.
